NicheFi was pitched as a financial OS for niche business operators — the kind of narrow-vertical bookkeeping and forecasting tool general SaaS players don't bother building. It went into the registry as one line among 318 repos.
It sits there now at state: archive, level: unlisted. Unlisted is the bottom rung of the ladder — it means no real README ever got written for it. Of the 318 repos on record, 177 are now archived. NicheFi is one of them, filed somewhere among the 165 domains the registry tracks.
The reason it stopped was never the market. No pricing test came back negative. No niche operator turned it down. It stopped because attention moved to something else before the repo cleared even the first rung — before it had a page anyone could read well enough to judge it, keep it, or bury it on purpose. Unlisted isn't a verdict on the idea. It's an idea that never got graded.
What the registry does differently now is separate "exists" from "is real." Every repo carries a level that's measured, not declared — unlisted, listed, recorded, gated, caged, product, live — so the registry can be swept for a repo's actual rung instead of trusted on the word of whoever named it. A repo can't claim a standard it was never checked against. So an entry like NicheFi, one of 177 archived out of 318, doesn't disappear into the count. It shows up as archived, at level unlisted, and stays visible as exactly that: a name and a claim, never a README, until someone either writes the page or leaves it be.
That's the whole log: 318 repos, 177 archived, 165 domains, one of them called NicheFi, stalled at the bottom before it was ever graded.
